Swabhavakavi Gangadhar Meher (1862-1924) renowned as 'Prakriti-Kavi' of Odia Literature, is one of the brilliant Makers of Indian Literature. On the occasion of Poet's Birthday Celebration in Sravana Purnima, various functions are observed within a month every year in Odisha.
Gangadhar Meher Jayanti Celebration was organised by PG Department of Odia Language and Literature, Khariar Autonomous College, Khariar, Dist. Nuapada, Odisha on 5-9-2026.
As Chief Speaker, Dr. Harekrishna Meher delivered speech on several aspects of Poet's Literary works, especially of his great classic Tapasvini Mahakavya. Beautiful Depiction of Nature, Close Relationship between human beings and Nature, Social Values, Environmental Exuberance, Aesthetic Charm, Literary and Cultural Significance, Philosophical Thoughts, Relevance of Poet's Writings in the present society and the like were discussed.
Dr. Meher contextually presented some verses from his Trilingual Hindi-English-Sanskrit Translations of Tapasvini Mahakavya during his speech.
Esteemed Principal Prof. Prasant Kumar Panda presided over the meeting. Other dignitaries, Chief Guest Poet Sri Nilalohita SinghDeo, Honourable Guest and Ex- Principal Major Dr. Ramachandra Mishra, Co-ordinator Dr. Brajamohan Meher, Dr. Gitashree Priyamvada and other Staff of the Department and College were present there.
Hearty thanks and gratitude to the College authority for inviting to this beautiful and memorable function.
